A few years ago at the University of British Columbia, scientists conducted a pretty strange experiment on the human brain…
They wanted to find out if we’re all born lazy.
So the researchers recruited 29 healthy young adults, and sat them in front of a computer…
All of the volunteers told the scientists that they really wanted to be active, even though none of them were.
Then, the participants were asked to control a stick figure avatar on the computer…
They were shown, one at a time, one of these images…

As you can see from the pictures, the stick man is either active or inactive…
Meaning: the stick man is either walking or running etc…
… or he is sitting/lying down.
Then, after being shown a picture, the participants had to move their avatar away from the active pictures and towards the inactive pictures… and vice versa.
Like this…

During the experiment, the researchers looked at what was happening in the brains of the participants… and it shocked everyone in the room!
They discovered that the participants’ brains had to work MUCH harder to move the avatar towards active pictures…
And found it very easy to move towards inactive pictures.
The study confirmed that…
Our brains are hard-wired
to make us lazy!
And this is happening in ALL of our brains… ALL of the time.
Think about it…
Why walk up a set of stairs if you can take the lift?
Why walk 15 minutes to the shop, when you can get in the car instead?
Why run a bath when you can be in and out of the shower in 5 minutes?
It’s because our brains are hard-wired to pick the easiest tasks that are less strenuous to do…
The path of least resistance…
That’s why the thought of getting dressed and going to the gym seems like too much effort.
And why eating clean and cutting out junk food seems impossible too.
Here’s the thing:

“It takes 21 days to create a habit”
is a myth!
